When I rested below the tree,
Weighed down by the troubles of the world,
Little did I know,
That would be the Calvary’s tree which would save me.
And Lo! On the cross lay my Saviour who loves me.
A Love so deep, a love so pure,
Like never have any mankind felt before.
What did you see in me, I ask again,
To the one who tells me
His love for me is everlasting.
The heaven came down for me, to wipe away my tears,
But the world crucified him, without any kindness to spare.
What would I give back for this passion you showed me,
What would I do in return for the love you bestow on me,
The passion on the cross,
I will love thee back with all my heart, and my soul,
Oh! My Lord.
Children cry in hunger
As parents strive for food;
Still their hearts are unfed.
So many lives are empty,
So many walk alone.
Reaching out for something
They cannot seem to find.
This is my command:
Take your brother’s hand
And love him as I have first loved you.
Let the warmth of your embrace
Give him strength to run the race.
Broken people wonder:
“O God, where can You be?”
Share my heart with those who weep
And bring them back to me.
May your love’s work be the evidence of grace.
Fear in my heart, and cold in my soul,
On unsteady feet I stand up to you
To hear the decision of the jury.
Tears in my eyes, dry throat,
I take the responsibility of your broken heart,
I must take my punishment.
You’re the victim here;
I cannot linger on what I feel.
I can’t dwell on my pain seeing you suffer,
You are the only one for me.
I stumbled, I tripped,
But I’m still where I’m meant to be.
I realized when you looked at me,
The damage I’ve done is vast.
No matter how much I plead on my knees,
I’m sorry won’t cut it this time.
But “I am sorry”,
I think about your pain.
The sorrow in your voice is breaking me down.
This is not about me.
I patiently wait for your choice.
Knowing I’m not worth it,
Praying you still love me.
I won’t give up on us;
I stand here looking for
Hear my prayer, O Lord;
Listen to my plea!
Answer me because
You are faithful and righteous.
I give my hands to do Your work
I give them willingly.
I give my feet to go Your way
I shall take cheerfully.
I give my eyes to see the world
In just the way You do.
I give my tongue to speak Your words
To spread Your mighty name.
Here I am before You,
Falling in love, seeking Your truth
You’re the only one,
That brings me to my knees.
I give my mind in every way
That You may think in me.
I give my spirit to You
That You may pray in me.
I give You my heart
That You may love in me.
I give You my whole self
That You may grow in me.
So it is You, Lord
Who live and work
And pray in me.
